Old habits die hard, so we do some things without even thinking about how harmful they are – especially in the morning when we don’t have time.
Wash only your face
Instead of just washing your face in the morning, a morning shower helps the brain become active and less likely to be distracted by external factors. A shower allows the brain to generate new and unusual ideas. This is why you should never miss the opportunity to take a shower when you wake up.
Since warm water has a relaxing effect, taking a hot shower in the morning will make you want to crawl back into bed. Taking a cold shower in the morning has some advantages. It helps you feel refreshed, stimulates brain activity and makes your immune system work better. Cold water, unlike hot, does not dry out the skin, and according to scientists, people who take cold showers regularly can lose about 9 kg a year.
You stare at your phone for a long time
Social media is the main reason so many people log on to their phone first thing in the morning. How you spend your day depends on how you spend your morning. Stop wasting your time checking other people’s lives, reading their comments and opinions and spend that time on yourself instead! The same goes for checking your business email inbox, as this can make your work
You’re wasting time getting dressed
Have you spent hours in the morning asking yourself, “What the hell should I wear?” You don’t have enough time in the morning, so don’t make it worse by looking for clothes. To make your choice simpler, reduce the variety of clothes you have in your closet. Apple’s Steve Jobs wore the legendary jeans and black shirt combination, not because he was saving money, but because he knew his time was valuable.
Create a special area in your closet where you only put the clothes you wear to work. If you have a dress code that requires you to wear a black jacket and white shirt, keep only black jackets and white shirts in that area. Check your wardrobe regularly and get rid of things you no longer wear. Store clothes that are out of season in a different place as well.
A typical serving of cereal (50 grams) contains about 4 tbsp. of sugar. Too much sugar in the morning causes an infusion of insulin into the blood, and when the effect wears off, you become tired and lethargic. Milk, yogurt and fresh fruits when added to cereals are also unhealthy to consume in the morning, so it is best to stay away from them.
A famous nutritionist, Chelsey Amer, recently said that it is healthier to eat a slice of pizza in the morning than a bowl of cereal. Pizza contains protein, fat and carbohydrates, making it a balanced breakfast. However, it is important to remember not to eat more than one. In addition to pizza, you can eat scrambled eggs, cottage cheese or meat that does not contain much fat.
You brush your teeth after breakfast
After eating, the enamel of the teeth becomes vulnerable, especially if you ate fruit, or citrus fruits thanks to the fact that they contain citric acid and phosphoric acid. What you need to do is rinse your mouth with water and remove the food residue with dental floss. Try to brush your teeth only 30 minutes after eating any food.
Drink black coffee
Black coffee right after waking up makes your cortisol levels high, which leads to anxiety. And if you drink coffee on an empty stomach, you may get gastritis. Research shows that the best time to drink your first cup of coffee is three or four hours after waking up. However, if you can’t resist drinking coffee in the morning, add some milk or cream to it. This way you will reduce its effects on the stomach.
Make your bed immediately
When you make your bed right after getting up, you create a good environment for dust mites because the moisture your body left on the sheets overnight doesn’t have a chance to evaporate. Scientists recommend removing the blanket completely from the mattress after waking up to dry the sheets.
