Coconut oil and lemon juice are two simple, natural, and inexpensive ingredients that can improve the look of your hair with little effort. Because these two products are good for hair? Let’s start with coconut oil: it is a saturated vegetable oil, dense at room temperature, which can be found in both deodorized and unrefined versions, delicately scented with coconut.
Coconut oil has property nourishing, emollient, antimicrobial and soothing, therefore it is excellent for obtaining soft and shiny hair, counteracting excessive dehydration and split ends. Additionally, coconut oil appears to stimulate hair growth and help relieve scalp irritation that can lead to redness, itching or dandruff.
Lemon juice, on the other hand, is an acidic substance characterized by slightly disinfectant properties. Applied to the scalp and hair it can help fight excess sebum, so it is great for oily hair, and closes the cuticles on the surface of the hair making it shinier and easier to comb. In addition, lemon juice can help intensify the light reflections of the hair in a natural way.
How to use coconut oil
Coconut oil for hair can be used alone or together with other natural ingredients that can increase its benefits.
Pure coconut oil
Using thepure coconut oil on the hair, the hair will be softer and shinier and any irritation of the scalp can be alleviated. To take advantage of the benefits of coconut oil for the hair, simply massage a small amount on the scalp and damp hair and leave on for about an hour. Then you can proceed with the shampoo, eliminating all the oil residues from the hair. The pack can also be repeated every week when the hair appears weak or dry.
With other oils
Coconut oil can also be used together with other vegetable oils for hair compresses. For example, it can be mixed with olive oil, sweet almond oil or with castor oil.
If you have problems with oily dandruff, you can add neem oil to coconut oil which, despite its very unpleasant smell, has property phenomenal against this problem. As an alternative to oil, neem leaves can also be used: in this case, we proceed by heating the coconut oil over a very low heat together with a handful of neem leaves. After mixing the chosen oils in equal parts, the mixture is applied to the scalp and hair, left on for an hour and finally washed off the oil with warm water and shampoo. The treatment can be repeated from once a month to once a week.
With essential oils
Using coconut oil with specific essential oils can help fight various hair problems and promote hair growth. For example, you can use lavender essential oil in case of scalp irritation, tea tree oil if you suffer from dandruff, oily dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis and rosemary essential oil to stimulate hair growth and fight excess sebum. Essential oils are very strong and can cause allergies, so they should be added in small doses, mixing one or two drops at most for each tablespoon of coconut oil. Before applying thecompress on the scalp and hair, it is better to massage a small amount on a limited area of the skin (for example on the arm) and wait twenty-four hours. If after a day you do not notice any unwanted reactions, the oil can be used for compresses on the hair.

Avocado is an exotic fruit rich in fats and vitamins widely used to prepare DIY hair masks, as well as in the pokè bowl. A hair mask based on coconut oil and avocado pulp is prepared simply by blending the pulp of the fruit and then mixing it with a tablespoon of coconut oil. This will take advantage of both the properties of coconut oil and the benefits of avocado for your hair.
How to use lemon juice
Lemon juice is the perfect remedy if your hair looks dull and dull or if you have oily or dandruff hair. Since it is an acidic substance, however, it must be used diluted and only occasionally.
