Facial care essentials for glowing skin

Our facial care needs are different for every season and especially for Summer! This is due to changes in weather conditions, but also our habits.

The humidity and heat of the summer months can make skin more vulnerable and dull. Some women may notice more oil, while others experience dry skin on the face. In some cases, the skin may even show discoloration or changes.

So discover which are the ideal products for your daily routine in the Summer in order to keep your skin beautiful and glowing. Thus, you will protect it from the intense sun and the photoaging that comes with more exposure to it.

In the Summer you need a non-greasy facial cleanser

No matter how insignificant or strange it may seem to you, in the warm months our face needs a fine-flowing, light cosmetic for deep cleansing of the skin with the label non-comedogenic.

This happens because in the Summer we are faced more with sweat, dirt and sand that accumulates on the surface of the skin. For this reason, it is recommended to use a product that removes excess oil, prevents clogging of pores, as well as irritations or breakouts that can be caused by exposure to the sun.

Using morning and night you can keep your skin beautiful and glowing. And of course after a visit to the sea, don’t neglect cleaning your face as soon as you return home. This will prevent breakouts and dullness.

Use a light facial moisturizer

Despite the increased humidity and the use of sunscreen in the Summer, our skin continues to need hydration. Therefore, we must not neglect our cream.

What we should watch out for though is to invest in a lighter, non-food-based, water-based formula. The reason is that our skin needs a less oily product that does not clog pores and prevents the appearance of pimples that are usually formed by increased oiliness. Besides, sweat is not considered a moisturizing factor.

The cream with Vitamin C is also an ideal choice. It acts against free radicals that lead to aging and wrinkles. At the same time, it treats the dullness of the skin, as well as the appearance of discolorations, such as freckles, thanks to its ability to improve its tone. In addition, it has antioxidants, increases collagen production and creates a shield that keeps away the sun’s harmful rays.

Alternatively, use a vitamin C serum after cleansing and before applying the face cream. It contains the necessary antioxidant elements for your summer skin care.

Don’t neglect the eye area

The skin around the eyes is sensitive and thinner than the rest of the face. Therefore, even more care is needed during the summer months.

By investing in a rich moisturizing cream, but also in a sunscreen ideal for this sensitive skin, you will keep your look young and fresh.

Equally effective is the use of a gel with hyaluronic acid, cucumber or honey, which deeply hydrate the area and prevent wrinkles.

And of course don’t forget the sunglasses. They not only protect the eyes, but also the sensitive area around them.

A toning lotion or face mist will make your skin brighter

Using an alcohol-free toner can help your skin stay glowing and beautiful during the Summer. So after cleansing your face, apply a toning lotion to close pores and reduce oiliness, especially in the T-zone (forehead, nose).

The face mist is equally effective, tonic and refreshing. You can spray it on your face whenever you need a cooling sensation, thus keeping it always hydrated. At the same time, this spray increases the duration of your summer makeup.

Water consumption is even more important in the Summer

To keep your face and skin in general hydrated, especially this season, you should take care of it both externally and internally. The cream and other moisturizing cosmetics help with external moisture. But what about the body?

It is important to drink plenty of water and fluids, but also to consume foods rich in water. Deep hydration keeps skin tissues healthy, making it shiny, soft and beautiful.

Therefore, it is crucial to drink 2-3 liters of water daily. And if you are a coffee lover, then you should increase your water consumption a little.

Sunscreen is a necessary ally

Although sun protection of the face is necessary throughout the year, Summer is of utmost importance. So we never forget to apply a generous amount all over the face, as well as the neck / décolleté about 20-30 minutes before our exposure to the sun.

Its use protects our skin from the sun’s harmful rays, preventing skin cancer, as well as photoaging, wrinkles and discoloration. But because it does not work indefinitely, we have to renew it every 2 hours or more often if we sweat, dive in the sea, etc.

The lowest recommended protection index against UVA and UVB rays is SPF 30. This does not mean that you can use a sunscreen and a foundation with SPF 15 each, because it does not work cumulatively. The final face protection index is again 15 since the highest score prevails, no matter how many products you combine.

Ideally sensitive and fair skins should choose an index higher than 30. Preferably SPF 50.

Oily skins are better off using sunscreens with a light texture. On the contrary, for dry skin, creamier products that offer hydration are preferable.

Finally, women with pimple- or acne-prone skin, skin problems and discoloration should consult their dermatologist to find the right texture for them.

Apply a lip balm with sun protection

In addition to the skin of the face, but also of the eyes, the Summer also needs sunscreen on the lips. This is another sensitive spot that can be affected by excessive exposure to the sun, due to the lack of melanin. This most often results in dehydration, the reduction of collagen, as well as the possibility of skin cancer.

So make sure to moisturize them often with sunscreen lip balm and get rid of chapped lips during these warm months.

Do not neglect facial exfoliation in the Summer

Although removing dead cells by peeling is very important to keep your skin glowing, healthy and beautiful, during the Summer season it is recommended to do it only at night. The reason is that the layer of dead cells acts as a protective shield against the sun’s UV rays.

Exfoliation of the face should therefore not be done in the morning, but neither should it exceed 2 times a week. And of course aesthetic treatments such as deep chemical peeling and laser in the facial area should be avoided in the Summer.

You should also be aware that chemical peels, exfoliation and retinol tend to make the skin vulnerable to sun damage, discoloration and premature aging.

Limit makeup as much as possible

Summer makeup is usually more natural and created with few cosmetic products, so that our skin can breathe better. In fact, many women prefer to stop the daily use of foundation and replace it with a BB or CC cream that offers coverage, but also sun protection.

For more formal occasions, you can still wear your make up, but preferably one with sunscreen and a light texture.

But in neither case should you skip your sunscreen. Just apply it a few minutes before BB, CC or make-up, so that it has time to be absorbed by your face.
