And never as at this time of the year is it important take care of nutrition: what to bring to the table to never run out of energy and to always be in shape? Let’s see what the best advice from our experts.

The right diet to combat “autumn sickness”

They call “Seasonal affective disorder”, and it is a real change of mood that manifests itself with sadness, moodiness, sleep disturbances and great fatigue. A sort of autumn sickness, since it manifests itself during these months: the cause lies in the arrival of a more rigid climate and in a less sunlight, which in many people predispose to a condition of malaise. With the diet, however, we can cope with this problem.

We talked about it with prof. Pier Luigi Rossi, specialist in nutrition sciences and preventive medicine and lecturer at the University of Siena in Arezzo. The decrease in sunshine hours has important effects on our body, causing a reduced production of serotonin, the feel-good hormone. This may explain the sudden craving for sweets we have during the fall. The ideal diet to deal with this ailment is a ovo-peach-vegetable regime: for four days we should take only plant foods, then do a day with eggs and fish and start the cycle from the beginning.

What is the reverse diet and how it works

Strictly follow a very restrictive diet to lose weight, and then start accumulating all the lost kilos as soon as you return to a normal diet: it is theeffect yo-yo, a problem that many people have experienced. How can this be avoided? Experts have identified numerous benefits in the reverse diet, aka the reverse diet. It is a method that allows you to switch between low calorie diet to a maintenance one, which has far fewer restrictions.

This system should allow for a gradual increase in calorie intake, causing the body to get used to it and not to experience the yo-yo effect. The reverse diet provides a strict scheme to follow: ideally, you should increase your energy intake by about 100 kcal every one or two weeks. Precisely because of its difficulty in applying it, it is important rely on an expert who can draw up the best meal plan based on the individual needs of each of us.

Pasta and reduced energy consumption: sustainable choices

Never before have we been more aware of the impact of our daily choices in terms of energy saving. And, with the dear bill which is hitting Italians hard, we are all looking for ways to consume less. Well, there are some strategies to bring a sustainable pasta dish to the table. To reveal them are the experts of the Italian Food Union, in a report presented on the occasion of the World Environment Day.

The first trick is touse the lid until the water boils, to save time and consume 6% less energy. And speaking of water, to cook a hectogram of pasta you need 0.7 liters: in this way we cut the consumption of this precious resource and, obviously, of the energy necessary for the preparation of our dish. Finally, in recent times there has been a lot of talk about passive cooking. It is a method that plans to turn off the heat after 2-4 minutes from the moment the pasta is poured into the pot, in order to exploit the heat present in the water without wasting too much energy.
